Geelong Independent – May 18, 2018: Now in its third year, Newcomb Secondary College’s P-TECH (Pathways in Technology) program is well underway.
P-TECH is a collaborative partnership between education and industry to provide students with pathways to nationally accredited qualifications alongside their regular inschool education.
Supported by the Federal Government, Newcomb Secondary College is among the first of 10 Australian colleges offering P-TECH.
VCE/VCAL students are currently studying at Certificate III in ICT, Business/Finance or Health/Science at The Gordon with the support of mentors from the college’s industry partners.
As part of their study, the students attend their workplace regularly to participate in reallife workplace projects.
At the completion of their schooling students have a formal qualification, extensive work-placement experience and will have gained a number of much needed non-technical skills such as problem-solving, collaboration and self-management skills required for employment in the future.
